I'm ready for today's challenge! I love this weekly reminder to speak in the ml. I accidentally said something to my husband in the ML this morning, then realized it and quickly repeated it in the ml... Oops!
You're hardcore, Alison. When the kids are sleeping, we allow ourselves to use the ML... I don't know who said this is like quitting smoking (was it you, Amy?) and it's true... I need my daily fix of speaking to my husband in my own language.
Beginnings are always hard, but we're still in February and you're already working on it, so I'd say it's looking good.
Haha! I'm not hardcore enough to attempt evening ml for the whole of March but I can try it for one day a week. I realised I should be making more use of the fact my husband is a native speaker.
Unfortunately my son had other plans and was really unsettled all evening so I only had about 15 minutes with my husband before I had to start going up and down trying to settle my son and then I gave up and used ML as I wasn't in the mood to persevere. My husband and I spend such a small amount of time together on weekdays and much of our communication is repetitive and based around the basics of food and nappies! That's why I also tried to listen to podcasts in ml too.
I think I should try making signs to put up for ml March to remind us both to use it. My husband is worse than I am at remembering.
Best of luck with your efforts, everyone! I look forward to hearing the highlights!

Amy: Was stunned to hear eldest had an anglophone (ml) accent when she began to read in the ML this afternoon!! Didn't last more than a paragraph until her brain switched language, but chuffed mum here!!

Mayken: My daughter found the secret stash of ml books I'd bought at the closure sale of the ml book store two months ago and hidden away for later. Guess it's a good time for new books now, right?

Caro C.: My baby (16mo) perfectly knows what "hi5" means and readily shows her hand even when we are not showing our hand first. It feels like the first minor blossom of the bilingual seed.

Najwa: My eldest sings and verbalizes his figures/cars stories in an invented language that has English sounds and Italian accent. Is it his way to disconnect from his multilingual world?
