I'd like to share something I did recently, in hopes of inspiring others to try something similar. I hope to make this at least an annual event.
I'm a member of a Facebook Group called Mums Space France (an English language group for Mums in France as the title would suggest). This is a lovely, supportive group: in tough competition with my love for the zoo.
Recently we arranged a weekend away in various campgrounds in France, after having voted on a weekend (low/off season so it was really cheap) and members booked a mobile home through EuroCamp (super cheap and comfortable accommodation). I paid 60 euros for two nights in a five star campground 3 hours from my home. The best part was that we were greeted at the reception in English, and the campground was deserted except for the 6 adjacent mobile homes of English speakers. It was very good for my 2,5 year old daughter, and made me even more determined on my journey. FYI Eurocamp bookings possible no matter your nationality, and give access to great deals in many places.
This is just one example of a way a ml retreat could be organised. Perhaps if you have contacts near you, you could host people at your home for the weekend, or rent a house together, or stay in a hotel...
A more ambitious goal could be to arrange ml weeks or weekends depending on ml and less so location. The advantage of this could be children who live in for example Italy and France, meeting in Spain...this way they are less likely to have a common ML and would be even more obligated to use the target ml.
I know Adam has dreamt of more real life meetings, and I am super motivated to do this too! Thoughts? Similar experience?
