Hi Serina,
I think the positive vibes you sent managed to reach me. Keep sending me more! Thanks for reading through my ramblings. Here I go on with some more!
Lot of things were happening since my last update here, and couldn't find the time to visit the forum as much as I wanted to. My little boy turned 1 last week, and it was really hectic trying to get things done. So, in a way, I really couldn't focus much on my daughter, but was at least making sure she did her usual school homework routine on time.
The party which I had planned only for her classmates was much more fun than I had expected. It was the first time that most of them had come to our home, and initially the kids were taking time to warm up. Once they finished having cakes and some snacks, I started off with a few games that I had planned for them. I chose games like Simon Says, Musical Statues, Pin the Tail on the "Cat", and so on. It was fun because I tweaked most of these games so that everyone feels like a winner! (And in case any of you are wondering why it was a "cat" and not the usual "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," it was because I had one child draw any animal she likes without a tail and used that for our game. ) My daughter spoke very little but I could see that she was mingling well with them. And her classmates also were so cooperative because I also stumbled at a few places trying to explain these games, but they helped me to get my message across. Once I ran out of ideas for games, they started their own games and taught me too. I am hoping that this kind of passive approach to language may trigger some spark in my daughter. Anyway, I think it's only getting better day by day.
While I was busy with these preparations, the friend who had told me that we need to attend workshops got back to me saying that she may know someone who could be my daughter's playmate. She managed to find someone who has a sister studying in college and wants to get into preschool education. It seems that she found the idea of a playmate interesting and wants to give it a try. Also, I was told that they live quite close to our place. Since my friend has also seen how my daughter is getting along, she has a fairly good idea of what exactly I am looking for. Now my friend is helping me to get a small meetup fixed between my daughter and that student at my home sometime next month. And I have said that if the student feels comfortable, only then will we take it forward.
That's all I have for now.
