Grammar code switching

Hello,
My son is 5 years old and speaks English and German. We live in England and he started school two months ago. I only talk German to him and he talks only German back to me. He is a pretty confident speaker in German although he sometimes struggles to express himself but he works around it. A year ago or so he was code switching with words in both directions meaning he was sometimes using German words in his English sentences and English words in his German sentences. This pretty much stopped now but I have noticed another phenomenon which worries me a little bit. He started to use English grammar when he is talking German, especially when it comes to sentence structure. He would for example say: "Heute wir gehen in den Park" (Today we go to the park) instead of "Heute gehen wir in den Park" (Today go we to the park).
The word order in the first sentence is correct in English but wrong in German. I have also noticed that he sometimes uses the wrong prepositions which would be the correct one in English but the wrong one in German.
Do you think this is a temporary issue? Most of the time, I ignore his mistake and repeat the sentence from my perspective in the right word order or with the correct preposition but sometimes when he makes the mistake over and over again despite me mirroring the correct version I specifically tell him what the correct word order is.
His exposure is ok (20-25h) and he is doing pretty good. He is basically talking accent free, can make all the typical German sounds, especially the German "r" and "ch" are accent free but it is just the grammar that gives me some concerns. I talked to him from day one in German and it is absolutely not an option for him to talk English to me. He laughs at me when I say something in English to him. He sometimes even is unsure if it is ok to talk English to other people when he is with me. It is not because I am so strict but rather because we are in this German bubble.
I would really appreciate your input on that one.
Greetings and I hope you guys stay safe!
Matthias
