Hi everyone, long time no see! I’ve had a son (August 2019) , daughter is doing great in ml and speaking it to her brother and us, and of course my husband and I are still speaking mainly ML together, ahhh!
How about you: Do you actively seek out ml activities and friends, and neglect ML outside school? I imagine that it will all work out and my efforts now will help when extracurricular activities and friends take a more prominent place for her in ML...I think about Adam encouraging us to use the younger years while we can...
I’m not quite sure how to frame this post but hopefully I’ll find some people who understand! My daughter is in moyen section in a little French village , she is four and her schooling is 100% in French. To counter this we travel an hour away two Wednesdays a month to a playgroup in English where she uses English which is great, and she loves it. I also have a goal of at least one other play date closer to us in English a month, but the children are all younger than her...while this didn’t used to be a problem, the gap is not as fun for her now.
She’s very sociable at school and we see one of her friends outside school, but I admit I resist enrolling her in activities close to home (in French) for now...preferring English exposure while it’s still possible to choose for her! This got me thinking...am I sheltering her too much and will she be less integrated at school because we don’t invite her peers over? I don’t refuse of course, but I spend more time encouraging ml...
This may be brought on by her not being invited to a birthday party (I know you can’t invite everyone!).
