I'm tentatively considering buying the pack of 32 cuentos from this collection, for my daughter, for the school holidays. She is at the very early stages of learning to read, in French (ML). After listening to everyone here and doing some research myself, I realise that if I can encourage her to start to read a bit in ml2 (Spanish), it may actually help with her ML reading rather than hindering it (I don't need to think too much about ml1/English reading at this point, as she will learn it in school in a couple of years).
I've heard great things on this forum about the collection. However, as my daughter is really at the very early stages (the books she is reading at school in French, for those who are familiar with French education, is what is normally done in the first trimester of CP - so, for instance, Sami et Julie niveau 1, which she can decipher - but very slowly), I don't want to discourage her at all by giving her texts to read that are too difficult. The aim would be for her to have something to read with either me or the nanny during the summer holidays, say 10 minutes a day. I was thinking that as written ml2 is phonetic, she might actually enjoy reading it and gain in confidence, thus having a sort of positive feedback cycle with reading in general.
My problem is that I can't seem to find a way of seeing what these books actually look like on the inside! Would it be possible for someone who has a copy to take a couple of photos of the contents, so that I can get an idea of the level of the text, how many sentences per page and also the type of font they use? The font on the cover is a little different to what my daughter is used to, so if it's like that on the inside too I may wait until she is a little more confident before introducing her to the books.
Thanks!
