Nothing much to report of late! My main 'immediate' dilemma has been what to do during the first week of the school holidays, when there are several different ml-focused camps for children. My main choices were between a ml1-only one, which would be a bit difficult logistically because it is neither close to my home nor my work, a bilingual ML-ml1 one which is music-focused and would no doubt be great fun, BUT is only half-days and so would not necessarily actually provide that many hours of ml1 (because half-days for two languages), and an ml2 one which is full-time but would mean that I would be late to work every day.
I have decided to go for the ml2 one because: first, it will provide exposure to a greater number of ml2 speakers, which is my challenge with ml2 (and especially children! even if they will probably speak in ML to each other), and thus also exposure to more ml2 CULTURES, as the children will all be from different ml2-speaking countries; and second, it is not run as often. In fact, last time I tried to enrol my daughter in a programme run by the same organisation it was cancelled because there were not enough children. So I am conscious that this may happen again this time...if it does, then I will cross my fingers that there are places left in the bilingual one!
I am açtually a bit frustrated as it seems that lots of schools are starting holidays one week early, and the bilingual music camp is actually also being run in what is in fact the last week of holidays! So if my daughter's school had been finishing a week early, she could have gone to that too. It is pretty crazy (if somewhat funny!) that I am actually disappointed by this. 😀
