I’m really enjoying this forum as a means of articulating my goals. Once I think them through specifically, they are much more likely to happen!
That's exactly right, Carrie! I think a large part of fortifying our efforts, and our progress, is simply carving out a little quiet time, on a regular basis (which I know can be hard, considering how busy our lives are!) and defining clearly how we intend to strengthen our actions.
Day by day, these extra efforts generate both positive momentum and productive movement.

Challenge #2: Play background music regularly. To meet this challenge I will: A. Play an album for the kids every day. (So far in February I haven’t missed a day!) B. Research some new kids music to play at home. C. Get some new music for the car.
You impress me with how you roll out your plan and make yourself accountable for it. Congrats!
If I may say so, playing background music regularly is not just about kids' music. Obviously, they listen with a lot more interest to kids' songs, but you can also take a breather and play grown-up music and the kids will pick up from it too.
I often play flamenco music because I love it but also because I want my daughters to be acquainted with their heritage. Well, believe it or not my eldest daughter is receptive to a specific singer I like (she actually first recognised that singer when I played it at home after hearing it at her grandparents' place - and I had completely forgotten about it!), and comes up to the computer to check out the album cover when she hears her, and last time that singer was singing a sad flamenco song my daughter asked me why she was crying.
One of the last times I played a lively flamenco song, my little one made me smile by starting to dance, clapping her hands and stomping her feet! We ended up dancing together, and it left us with a great memory.
All this to say, don't hesitate to browse music on a wider scale. Have you thought of looking for a ml radio station to play? This would kill 2 birds with 1 stone as it would enable you to discover ml music you might like. If you don't know where to start, why not try the Radio Garden website that enables you to browse radio stations worldwide?
Good luck with your February goals and looking forward to your monthly debrief.

Mayken: After writing a letter in the ML to her new friend for whom it is the ml, my daughter is now on the phone with her friend from ml country. (And hiding in her room with my phone. No more phone cords to hold her back.)

Wojtek: I found sample Eiken tests on grade 5 and 4 (There was Adam's article) and did the first part with my daughter (20 questions). On Grade 5 she did 16 of 20 correctly and on grade 4: 12 of 20. Not so bad though. She failed those where grammar was included.

Adam Beck: Wojtek, your daughter is still very young so I would say those are really positive results! Your efforts are clearly producing a lot of progress. Good for you, and good for your daughter!

Undraa: A big congrats from my end to you for your new book Adam!

Wojtek: Big thanks, Adam. Those tests on grade 5 are so basic but anyway they prove that my girl understands them and knows the answers. That was quite interesting experience.

Wojtek: Congratulations on your book, Adam! I read the beginning on Amazon and as always I have the impression you took several pages from the dictionary with a range of sophisticated words and just put them in. That's why the book will be very valuable for me.

Adam Beck: Wojtek, thanks! Even if you're unfamiliar with some of the vocabulary, I think the lively story will carry you through the book. I hope you enjoy it, and also find it useful for your English!
