There’s nothing more awesome than the availability of technology at our fingertips. The essence of making use of it will truly be of immense help throughout your entire language journey. I’m sure everyone’s probably heard this here before, but Netflix, Disney +, Stan (the list goes on) all have children movies and series available in multiple languages! Use them! Even if it’s a last resort to fostering and nourishing a certain minority language in the home.
When I first got on board this amazing online language community I think I was pregnant with my first trilingual child with trilingual hopes and dreams that are now the reality and norm of our every day life in our family. Not only for our first child but for all four of our children under 5 now. I wanted to pass my children the gift of speaking Italian (my native tongue) and Spanish (their father's) while living together in an English speaking country, Australia. Adam and the entire team were of great help, also in my professional work (currently undertaking a masters in teaching EAL/D students while at home with our four munchkins). I guess this was one of my priorities in the beginning and then soon it all became quite natural, organic and effortless. I read and speak to the children in the minority language and support them with a little English every now and again when necessary for now. I’ll ask my children to tell papà something and they’ll switch in Spanish without thinking twice. Their little sponge of a brain is amazing and fascinating to watch. I have a child who’s language acquisition is a little delayed; however, for now it has not stopped us on our trilingual journey, and when I have the time to offer her extra help I do and she’s progressing beautifully.
There are soo many tips and tricks here. I just wanted to take this opportunity to share with you our journey and what one of the effortless tricks we use to support us. For now
