So, the rehearsal was on Sunday and the recording on Monday. There will be a second rehearsal and a second recording for the remaining songs, but my daughter isn't available on those dates.
The rehearsal was in what could also have been a small dance studio tucked away in a courtyard building on a small Paris street. There were nine kids all in all, all but one from my daughter's school, and five of them (my daughter included) were from her ml class. The lady in charge of the rehearsals was an ml native and a professional, she had them do warm-up exercises while we parents studied the contract, to which a clause had been added that made the whole thing more acceptable. Then we left for 2 or 2½ hours. When we got back, we heard the kids sing the canon through the open window, and it sounded amazing. (The canon wasn't on the schedule for the first rehearsal/recording, and they ended up not recording it, but it was wonderful to hear it.)
Since the kids had been great, we were told we could come half an hour later for the recordings the next day, which was good news for us, as it takes us one hour to get to the recording studio.
The recording studio was tucked away in a small side street in Montmartre. When we arrived, half of the kids were already there, and my daughter and two of her classmates spontaneously started singing some of the songs while we waited for the rest to arrive. In one song, they were to sing the verses in twos or threes or solo, and suddenly they stopped and told the older girl from the other school who was sitting with her mom, "That's yours!" The other girl sang her verse, and they sang the chorus and continued with the next verse. And when they were done, they went on to the next song. It was totally adorable.
Then the others arrived and we parents left for two hours, and when we got back they were already finished.
So that's it for us. My daughter got two solid mornings of ml singing, which is an interesting experience in any language, plus I'm pretty sure she's not going to forget those songs any time soon, plus she had fun with friends in the ml. (Did I mention she didn't want to leave?)
And as a bonus, it looks like we'll be getting one of those cubes with her recordings when they're ready!
