I discovered an amazing website that sells loads of English books, learning to read books, activity books etc at a great price. The best deals are when you buy sets, so you can get 10 great books for 10 pounds! So a pound a book, which is amazing! Some sets we have bought and loved are Julia Donaldson books, Elmer, Paddington. We also bought phonics, learning to read sets etc. The website is The Book People. I am not sure where they deliver to (other then the UK where we are based, but check it out). If they don't deliver to you, keep this in mind if you ever travel to London, then you can order. www.thebookpeople.co.uk
Does anyone know if there is a French equivalent? I would love to be able to get some good deals on French books. I spend LOADS now on French books.
Also, if there are other websites you know of for different languages, it might help others who are looking for good deals on books, so post them as well.
You may already have come across this, but if you are in London you could have a look at La Librairie in Hammersmith (lalibrairielondres.com/) which is apparently exclusively for second-hand French language books (and sweets, but hopefully they aren't second-hand! ). Bit of a trek for us from Bristol but quite near the in-laws so I'm planning a side trip already!
Mayken: My daughter's ml homework for this week included baking a cake - there's a cake in the story they read, and after each chapter there are questions and tasks, and the current chapter has the step-by-step recipe. She's to bring the cake to school too.

Amy: What a nice original homework! Makes such a change from standard homework, and I wouldn't be surprised if kids remember more from it! I like your bilingual school Mayken! Lucky little girl, and lucky Mummy!

Mayken: ml cake homework update: About half the class brought cake (8 out of 15), not all of them were the cake from the book recipe, but my daughter's was the most popular. (Maybe because we added food colouring and topped it with chocolate icing and smarties?)

Adam Beck: Cake is definitely my favorite kind of homework!

Jana: One of the best parts of having kids in bilingual school was getting Mother's Day cards in two languages! (With less-than-perfect spelling in both!) Ha!

Amy: (Twice) Lucky you Jana! So nice to read exciting pieces of news like yours!

Mayken: I still have that to look forward to, Jana! Mother's Day in our ML country is two weeks later, and the ml teacher goes along with that date. (It was last Sunday in our ml country.)
