I'm now back in Japan after a very fruitful trip to Europe. Over the course of five weeks, I visited nine countries, had homestays with 10 families, and recorded 15 interviews with parents for a new book I'm writing that gathers together "success stories" about raising bilingual and multilingual children.
If you'd like to learn more about my trip (and see photos, too), I've written a series of blog posts about it at Bilingual Monkeys.
Special thanks to everyone who helped make my trip such a fantastic experience. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to finally meet so many of you in person! We even had a lovely get-together of parents and children in a Paris park one sunny afternoon!
Adam Beck is the author of the popular nonfiction books "Maximize Your Child's Bilingual Ability" and "I WANT TO BE BILINGUAL!" (illustrated by Pavel Goldaev) as well as the award-winning humorous novel "How I Lost My Ear" (illustrated by Simon Farrow).
It's good to hear you're back home safely, Adam. It was wonderful meeting you in person at last and having you stay with us. My daughter loved playing (and talking!) with you. And that get-together was so much fun!
I'm truly sorry about that stupid transport strike.
Looking forward to reading more about your adventure!

Mayken: Last night, I couldn't think of the ml word for puffin, and my daughter beat me to it, in a cute way: It's Papageitaucher (literally parrot diver) but she said Tauchpapagei (diving parrot).

Amy: It's a relief to hear you're all safe Adam Beck! Mayken, I loved that cute story and I love how your ml structures its words, it is always so much fun and interesting.

Marisa: "Victory moment:" My almost 4-year-old daughter told me yesterday in the ml (rough translation): "mom, there's something wrong with the cartoons, can you fix it, please?"... she was accidentally watching TV in the ML! So I gladly obliged
